Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started with therapy or psychiatry in Minnesota?

Getting started is simple. You can:

No matter how you begin, our Minnesota mental health team will support you every step of the way.

Once you submit your request, our care team will follow up with next steps. If you choose an intake consultation, we’ll ask questions to understand your needs and help match you with the right mental health services and provider. If you request a specific therapist or psychiatric provider, we’ll confirm availability as quickly as possible.

Appointment timing varies by provider, service, and location, but many clients are able to schedule within a few days. If your first choice isn’t available, we’ll help explore other therapy or psychiatry options that may be a good fit.

Not at all. Many people start therapy unsure of what type of support they need. Our intake consultation is designed to help clarify what kind of mental health care may be most helpful based on what you’re experiencing.

Your first session is a chance to talk about what brings you to therapy and what you’re hoping to get out of care. You can share as much or as little as you’d like. Your therapist will guide the conversation and answer any questions along the way.

Not at all. Feeling nervous is incredibly common when starting mental health care. Taking the first step can feel big, and our Minnesota mental health clinicians are here to make the process feel as comfortable and supportive as possible.

Yes. Mental health services are confidential, with limited exceptions required by law to ensure safety. Your privacy and trust are very important to us.

In most cases, no referral is required. Some insurance plans may have specific requirements, which we can help clarify.

That’s very common. Our intake team can help talk through your options and guide you toward the type of mental health care that best fits your needs.

Please bring your insurance card, government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID), and a payment method for any required copay or coinsurance.

Yes. We offer both:

  • Telehealth mental health services for Minnesota residents, depending on provider availability
  • Or both – We offer flexibility to have both in-person and telehealth appointments with your provider based on what you need.

We’ll help you choose the option that works best for your needs and schedule.

Do you accept insurance for mental health services in Minnesota?

Yes, we work with many major insurance plans, including: Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial insurers such as Aetna, HealthPartners, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Coverage varies by plan, and our team can help review your options.

If you’re using insurance, we submit claims on your behalf. Your insurance company determines coverage and your responsibility, which may include a copay, coinsurance, or deductible. Any remaining balance is billed after insurance processes the claim.

Most Minnesota insurance plans cover telehealth therapy and psychiatry, though coverage varies. We recommend confirming details with your insurance provider for the most accurate information.

Costs depend on your insurance plan, provider, and services received. If you are self-pay, we offer private pay rates and flexible payment options. We aim to be as transparent as possible and help you understand expected costs before starting care.
