About the Center for Reproductive Mental Health
If you’re navigating fertility stress, pregnancy changes, postpartum emotions, early parenting, or midlife hormonal shifts such as perimenopause and menopause, you don’t have to do it alone. The Center for Reproductive Mental Health provides specialized support across the reproductive lifespan so you can feel grounded, understood, and confident about your next step.
CRMH’s mission is to deliver comprehensive, compassionate, evidence‑based mental health care with trauma‑informed approaches and collaborative partnerships—supporting emotional well‑being during pregnancy, postpartum, fertility treatment, loss, and menopause.
What services do we provide?
Screening & Assessment
We provide standardized mental health screenings and brief clinical evaluations at key moments in the perinatal period—and extend that lens to hormonal transition‑related mood symptoms so concerns linked to perimenopause/menopause are recognized early and addressed with care.
Group Therapy & Psychoeducation
We offer support groups and psychoeducation sessions focused on perinatal mental health topics, and we have sessions that address perimenopause and menopause (e.g., mood changes, sleep, brain fog, relationships) for clients across midlife to feel seen and supported.
In-House Reproductive Mental Health Services
Clients can access specialized individual and group reproductive mental health services directly within Minnesota Mental Health Clinics, ensuring seamless support from early family building through midlife transitions.
Perinatal Intensive Outpatient Services
The Perinatal Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Perinatal Connections Program at MMHC are trauma-informed, attachment-based intensive group therapy programs designed to support perinatal clients experiencing mood, anxiety, trauma, or adjustment challenges.
We support all stages of family building, including:
Offers emotional support and counseling for individuals or couples navigating infertility, assisted reproduction, or the stress of trying to conceive. Helps manage anxiety, grief, and relationship strain that can accompany fertility challenges.
Therapy can help individuals and families navigate the emotional, relational, and identity questions that can arise when building a family through donor conception. It offers a supportive space to process decisions, strengthen communication, and prepare for future conversations about family origins.
Provides mental health care for mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy, including support for those with high-risk pregnancies or prenatal trauma. Promotes emotional well-being and prepares expectant parents for the transition to parenthood.
Supports recovery from birth and adjustment to new parenthood, addressing postpartum depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. Offers therapy and peer support to reduce isolation and promote bonding.
Offers compassionate, nonjudgmental care for individuals who have undergone abortion or medical termination, helping them process complex emotions such as grief, guilt, or relief. Provides space for healing and emotional recovery.
Therapy can support individuals and families through the adoption process by helping them prepare emotionally, navigate complex feelings, and build healthy attachment with their child. It also provides a safe space to explore identity, expectations, and the transitions that come with forming a family through adoption.
Assists with the psychological challenges of early parenthood, including sleep deprivation, identity shifts, and relationship changes. Supports parents in building confidence and coping strategies.
Therapy can help blended families navigate new roles, strengthen communication, and build healthy relationships as they come together. It also provides support for managing transitions, honoring different family histories, and creating a unified sense of connection.
Provides grief counseling and trauma-informed care for those who have experienced miscarriage or stillbirth. Helps individuals and families navigate mourning and find meaning after loss.
Offers specialized bereavement support for families grieving the death of a newborn. Facilitates healing through therapy, support groups, and memorialization practices.
Perimenopause and menopause can bring unexpected emotional changes—such as mood swings, anxiety, irritability, sleep challenges, brain fog, and shifts in identity or relationships. Our clinicians provide specialized mental health support to help you navigate hormonal transitions with stability and confidence. Whether you’re experiencing mood changes for the first time or managing symptoms layered on top of life stressors, we offer compassionate therapy tailored to this stage of life.
